Our approach to reading is simple: ‘Every child a reader’!
We know that children who read for pleasure, are exposed to books from a young age and read widely have greater academic success. Children who read one book a day will start school having heard up to 290, 000 more words than a child who doesn’t read regularly with a parent or carer.
We believe in the power of reading and its power to unlock the doors to the world around us. If children are able to read at age related expectations or greater then they will be able to access the full curriculum. We know that there can be up to a 1-million word gap between children who read regularly and those that don’t. That’s why at Clifton All Saints Academy we want every child to leave our school reading fluently, and enjoying books.
